These caterpillars move in a line to make themselves look like they are larger, like a long snake to
prevent predators from eating them. That’s pretty ingenuousness.
Quote from David Attenborough
“If we and the rest of the backboned animals were to disappear overnight, the rest of the world
would get on pretty well. But if [the invertebrates] were to disappear, the land’s ecosystems
would collapse. The soil would lose its fertility. Many of the plants would no longer be pollinated.
Lots of animals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals would have nothing to eat. And our fields
and pastures would be covered with dung and carrion. These small creatures are within a few
inches of our feet, wherever we go on land — but often, they’re disregarded. We would do very well to remember them.”

Wow! Where was that photo taken?
Attenborough’s quote reminds me of a quote I saw on FB this morning: ‘Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as valuable to the child as it is to the caterpillar’ – Bradley Millar.
Funny, I just pinned the Bradley Millar quote yesterday after seeing it on Facebook
These caterpillars are pretty clever!
I re-posted it! It’s a great quote, especially for vegan parents
!
Yes when you look at all of the creatures they are all pretty clever in their own way. I love this photo
Hi Ally, I took photo on a path which ran through a park where I live. I actually stopped cyclists and people from walk on the path so the caterpillars could pass without any
