I love making my own pizzas and I guess it’s because I know for sure what is in it.
Another reason is because I have the opportunity to layer most of my favourite
vegetables together all at once. For those people who love vegan pizza as much as
me, I have a tip which will make the pizza moist and prevent it from drying out.
My tip is to have a layer on the base of frijoles refritos (Mexican Refried Beans)
then tomato pizza sauce. This keeps the pizza moist, when it’s in the oven
so the vegetables on top leave their juices on top of the sauce.
So on this pizza I have on the base: frijoles refritos (Mexican Refried Beans),
garlic and basil tomato pizza sauce, refried roasted potatoes with a bit of garlic,
onion, mushrooms, artichokes, kumatoes, sun dried tomatoes, jalapeƱos, olives
and fresh basil leaves with I placed on top with 3 minutes (17 minute mark of the
cooking time left. (Pizza was @ 220C for 20 minutes) Takes 15 minutes to prepare.

Great tip with the refried beans
Yum! I had dinner a couple of hours ago but I am ready for second dinner after seeing these photos!
That is a good tip, regarding the beans.
Oh my! I love the sound of refried roasted potatoes.
Thanks I only managed to finish half and the other half I will eat tomorrow… I never like heating food up to be honest but I hate wasting food… this pizza with the refried beans, potatoes etc is very good
Hey have you ever listened to Vegan Freak Radio before ? I listened to it for a long time until they stopped
This looks delicious. I love the idea of adding the refried beans.
Thank you. Yes it really gives the pizza some substance and retains the vegetables moisture on top.. Thanks for commenting
Your vegan pizza looks delicious but I would add some vegan cheese over the top & then when baked into the oven,…it would be more divine!
Yes true although this needs pizza doesnt need cheese for me the refried bean on the base make it a very good texture
thanks Sophie
YUM!! And I agree with you, a good vegan pizza (like this one) doesn’t need cheese
Thanks yep no cheese please
What a delicious looking pizza! Yum! Love basil on pizza
Thank you for the tip about adding refried beans. I will be sure to try that at our next family pizza night!
Thanks hope you can try this pizza
I think you have some German thing going on too
UeberDich !! und deine Name Angela Fuchs (Angela Fox) Sorry I studied in Germany so
You have also super nice recipes on your blog too
its nice to see some German name, although saying that you may be of German decades from many decades too…
Looks fabulous! What did you use for crust? I am gluten-free, and always looking for great, easy pizza crust. Most GF recipes are very time-consuming. Perhaps yours is regular old wheat–Just curious.
HI sorry its a wheat based. Thanks for your kind words. I made this a few times and its easy. Maybe you can replace the wheat with a gluten free flour ?
Yes, not a problem, really. If someone has a really easy GF crust or substitute, I’m always interested.
Well I know of a couple. I will hunt the down for you.
